DANCERS (14 June - 6 July) (Dancers range in age from mid teens to mid thirties)
For the summers of 2014 and 2015 you can apply for all roles and corps de ballet positions for fully staged repertoire of the Rome Festival Ballet, world premieres ballets, and fully staged opera productions of "Carmen by Bizet, "Die Zauberflöte" by Mozart,and the world premiere of "Dreamnotes" by Fritz Maraffi. The Rome Festival Orchestra or Solisiti del Rome Festival provides the music for all performances involving ballet. Taped music accompanies only preliminary rehearsals. Rehearsals and performances take place in Italy from mid-June through mid-July each year.
As a dancer with the Rome Festival Ballet and Opera you will dance in three or four performances of a fully staged opera (staged directed with sets and costumes) with the Rome Festival Orchestra and Chorus. You will also dance several ballets with the Rome Festival Ballet all of which will be with musicians of the Rome Festival. You will receive regular dance classes and stagecraft coaching in addition to the rehearsals and performances. You will also visit the cultural treasures of Rome to learn how they inspired composers. If you request the opportunity, you will dance works you bring prepared to perform after the ballet staff has coached them. You will meet instrumentalists, singers, ballet dancers, and designers from all over the United States, Italy, and at least nine other countries. Through these artists you will network worldwide for your professional future.
All your expenses of the Rome Festival opportunity may be covered by tax deductible gifts and grants through out 501-c-3 charity. Our charity receives many corporate matches. All tax payers and all non-profits may contribute.
We select dancers at the end of each month for the summer of 2014 and 2015. When our charity has used up all its financial support available for 2014, we invite dancers for 2015.
If you want to live and dance in Rome during the summer of 2014, you should mail to our "fast" address your application form and application fee during these days. Mail your application form and application fee to Rome Festival Admission, P.O. Box 1445, Mountainside, NJ 07092-0445 USA. Type or print "classical ballet, modern dance, OR classical ballet and modern dance" on the line above "types of dance studied", found in the upper right corner of the application.
Within two weeks after mailing the application and application fee mail to our "fast" address a video cassette tape recording or DVD of your strongest solo classical ballet and/ or your strongest modern dancing. Print on the label of the video tape or DVD the title of work, composer, and choreographer. If you prefer, you may audition be emailing your audition or a link to our email address, firstname.lastname@example.org
You will be guaranteed performances in Rome after attending ALL required classes and rehearsals.
