Pianists Application













PIANISTS (1 June - 26 June) Pianists range in age from early twenties to mid sixties)

For the summer of 2023 you can create an opportunity which suits your professional and artistic development from the following performance/study concentrations: Solo Piano Performance, Instrumental Chamber Music Performance, Vocal Chamber Music Performance, Classical Ballet World Premieres, Opera Production (See Opera Fellowship below).

The Rome Festival artist-teachers will help you present your best possible performances.

All your expenses of the Rome Festival opportunity may be covered by tax deductible gifts and grants through out 501-c-3 charity.  Our charity receives many corporate matches.  All taxpayers and all non-profits may contribute.

We select pianists at the end of each month for the summer of 2023 and 2024.   When our charity has used up all its financial support available for 2023 we invite pianists for 2024.

For the summer of 2023 and additional financial aid you need to mail your application and application fee during these days to our "fast" address, found on the application form.  Within two weeks of the date you mail your application and application fee, either email your audition recording as a music file to romefestival@yahoo.com OR postmail in a second envelope your recorded audition on a cassette or regular CD to our fast postal address.  Even if you mail all your application materials on the same day, we suggest you mail them in two envelopes.

Audition by playing two movements with different tempi from a Beethoven or Mozart piano sonata and a work of Chopin or Liszt.

To apply for the 2023 OPERA FELLOWSHIP FOR PIANISTS ADD a second audition recording track playing allegro and choral passages from the opera "Falstaff" by Verdi.

When applying to the Rome Festival Chamber Music and Opera Institute for Pianoforte, you may specify what you wish to perform and rehearse while in Rome.  You may chose one or more from chamber music, opera, ballet or orchestral repertoire.   You will perform as part of three or more concerts.  You will also visit the cultural treasure of Rome to learn how they inspired composers. You will meet instrumentalists, singers, ballet dancers, and designers from all over the United States, Italy, and at least nine other countries. Through these artists you will network worldwide for your professional future.
