For the summers of 2017, and 2018, you can apply for choral, understudy, and minor role positions in fully staged productions of "Carmen" by Bizet, "L'Elisir d'amore" by Donizetti, and "Falstaff" by Verdi,. You will sing the opera in its original language. You will sing in three or four performances of a fully staged opera (staged directed with sets and costumes) with the Rome Festival Orchestra, Ballet, and Chorus. For your performances you will receive vocal, diction, and stagecraft (sometimes including dancing) coaching in addition to the opera rehearsals. You may also request coaching in Italian conversation diction. Rehearsals and performances will take place in Rome, Italy from mid June through early July 8 each year.
You will also visit the cultural treasures of Rome to learn how they inspired composers. If you request the opportunity, you will rehearse and perform chamber music. You will meet instrumentalists, singers, ballet dancers, and designers from all over the United States, Italy, and at least nine other countries. Through these artists you will network worldwide for your professional future.
